I love the holidays, sometimes.

9 Dec

This year I’ve had some trouble getting into the Christmas spirit.  My dad has been really ill for the past few months and its taken its toll on the family.  I have a tree, but I haven’t bothered to decorate it.  Currently my boxes of ornaments are scattered all over the dining room.  But I’m starting to come around.  Pops is feeling getting a bit better and will probably get to spend Christmas with us.  He wasn’t up to being there for Thanksgiving and it wasn’t the same. I rely on my dad big time and its hard not having him around. Plus that means I have to ask my poor husband to fix stuff for me. Let’s just say he’s not a Mr. Fix-It.

So I’ve been listening to a lot of Christmas music to get myself into the holiday spirit.  The current playlist:

She & Him – The Christmas Waltz  –  I have a love/hate relationship with Zooey Deschanel but that’s another story. Here’s a love moment.

Amy Winehouse – I saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus

Otis Redding -White Christmas

John Lennon – Happy Christmas – War is Over

The Kinks – Father Christmas

Tom Petty-  Christmas All Over Again

The Ramones – Merry Christmas, I don’t want to fight tonight

the Killers -Don’t shoot me Santa

The Hives & Cyndi Lauper – Christmas Duel

Stevie Wonder – What Christmas Means to me

U2 -It’s Christmas -Baby Please Come Home

The Eels – Everything’s Gonna Be Cool This Christmas

Joshua Hyslop – Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

And the winner for weirdest/creepiest/worst  Christmas song:

Prince – Another Lonely Christmas

Wtf Prince?  I apologize for subjecting everyone to this.  But someone else needed to hear it.

“A Very She & Him Christmas” is one of my favorite albums this season. I especially love the simplicity and warmth of their version of “The Christmas Waltz.”

I haven’t listened to the album in its entirety yet, but now I will make an effort to do so.
